CONCORD, N.H. (AP) - New Hampshire is using Mother's Day weekend to start a new effort to help mothers stop smoking.
The state says it is focusing on mothers and women of childbearing age because tobacco affects the health of women, and their children.
Health officials are spreading the word about the program - and offering information on how to stop smoking - with a shrink-wrapped Toyota FJ Cruiser that will be traveling around the state.
Nearly one in five New Hampshire women between 18 and 44 years old reported smoking in 2007. That included more than one in six women who gave birth that year.
