NEW YORK (AP) - A lawyer for New York City has been arrested on fraud charges related to real estate deals.

The lawyer, Hugh Zuber, also was accused Tuesday in a federal criminal complaint with forging the signature of a bankruptcy judge on a false bankruptcy court order.

Zuber was released on $100,000 after a brief appearance in federal court in Manhattan.

Zuber's defense lawyer, Sabrina Shroff, said her client was in counseling for a gambling-related problems. Shroff declined to comment further outside court.

The 38-year-old Zuber of Monsey, N.Y., was accused of committing wire and mail fraud in connection with the purchase and sale of 2 buildings.

The city said Zuber was put on administrative leave without pay.
