NH's Gregg: 'Axe the stimulus plaques'

Associated Press - June 23, 2009 11:55 AM ET

CONCORD, N.H. (AP) - New Hampshire Sen. Judd Gregg has introduced a bill that would prohibit the use of stimulus funds for signs that say a project is being carried out using those funds.

It's called the "Axe The Stimulus Plaques Act."

Gregg had voted against the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. He says it's been a disappointment so far, doing little to address this ongoing economic crisis, create jobs, and turn around the nation's economy.

He says considering the disappointment surrounding the stimulus bill, it flies in the face of reason that signs are being constructed at a price tag of $300 each to promote the legislation. Gregg says the signs are simply for political self-interest.
