Biologists from Vermont and New York are working with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to develop a long-range plan to manage fish in Lake Champlain.
The plan drafted by The Lake Champlain Fish and Wildlife Management Cooperative calls for improving populations of a variety of fish species to improve fishing opportunities and the health of the lake.
The plan also calls for the establishment of sustaining populations of fish and the recovery of the population of lake sturgeon and eels. It will also suppress the populations of sea lamprey.
People have until the end of the year to comment on the plan.
