Plans are moving along for a new school in Vermont.
The Albany College of Pharmacy is set to open this summer in Colchester, it's the first college to offer a pharmacy program in the state.
The Associate Dean for Vermont's campus says the demand for new pharmacists is growing because more people are being prescribed prescription drugs.
"So you see, many more drugs are being used, people are getting older; there's just a natural demand for pharmacies, pharmacists, and that number is increasing," Dean Robert Hamilton said.
Classes at the Colchester campus will begin in August.
But students are already being interviewed for the program.
The college hopes to have seventy students in the first year, but more than 200 students over the next several years.
