It's being called a bright idea designed to impact thousands of people across Vermont.
Thursday, Efficiency Vermont donated 15,000 compact fluorescent light bulbs to the Vermont Food Bank. In Burlington, the light bulbs are now available to people shopping in the Chittenden Emergency Food Shelf's pantry.
"Hopefully it also educates them on the benefits of energy efficiency," said Michael Russom, spokesman for Efficiency Vermont. "That they will take that knowledge and will consider other choices around energy efficiency as well."
Efficiency Vermont hopes to double the number of light bulbs it plans to give the Food Bank next year.
