A new group hopes to energize Vermont by supporting small, community-based solar and wind projects.
The group called Energize Vermont, officially launched its grassroots effort Tuesday.
The group is opposed to large projects, such as wind turbines, that could potentially threaten Vermont ridgelines.
A state representative, David Potter, from Ira, who is also involved, plans to introduce two bills which would ensure that projects take into account any potential noise and health concerns.
People live in a rural community for something other than an industrial complex surrounding them, you don't move to the country to be kept awake at night," Rep. Potter, said.
