Lt. Gov. Dubie Continues Jobs Tour

Posted: Updated:

Vermont's democratic primary for governor may be crowded, but there is still just one republican in the race, Lt. Governor Brian Dubie.

And although he says his primary focus right now is on being the state's number two, he continues to keep himself front and center.

"My focus is jobs and creating jobs," Lt. Gov. Brian Dubie said.

Dubie continued his jobs tour Monday with a stop in Middlebury.  He met with area employers, getting their feedback on how to keep and retain jobs.

"That's why I'm running for governor to move us, to make us more competitive to grow jobs, to be able to grow revenues so we can educate the next generation," Dubie said.

But the republican insists this jobs tour, that he kicked off in January, has to do with his current role in Vermont politics.

"The best thing I can do right now is to be Vermont's Lt. Governor, meet with people on this jobs tour and listen to what they're thinking," Dubie said.

He says the top things he's hearing from people in Middlebury are just as big everywhere else.

"Well, I've learned that taxes are important," Dubie said.

Dubie says he plans to officially announce his run for governor, when the current legislative session wraps up.
