Barre, Vermont – The Vermont
Foodbank got a big notation from a local store.
In December, Lenny's Shoe and Apparel held its annual charity sale.
The store raised $5,000, which went to the foodbank.
If you wanted to attend the charity sale, people had to pay $5 to get in, then
you would be able to get discounts.
More than 550 tickets were sold.
Each ticket provided 30 meals for Vermonters in need.
"We're happy
with the success of this event, and we're so pleased to be able to make this
kind of donation to the Vermont Foodbank," said Lenny's owner Mark McCarthy.
"We'd like to thank our loyal customers for their support -- not only of a
local business like Lenny's -- but also of a local charitable organization that
offers a much-needed service throughout the state. That's the true spirit of
the holiday season, and we're so proud to have been a part of it."
