Update: Middlesex, Vermont - A collapsed roof, melted trucks and lost equipment are all that's left at Dubois Construction in Middlesex, Saturday.
To give you an idea how big this fire was, it took 17 fire departments several hours to put it out.
Lieutenant Governor Phil Scott and his cousin own the business.
They were at a Norwich hockey game Friday night when he heard something he'll never forget.
"She says, Donny, my partner has had been hit by a puck and was down stair getting stitches and also the shop was on fire," said Scott.
"It was unbelievable when I pulled in. I knew from the reports somebody had told me. Obviously that the building was on fire but I had no idea of the magnitude," said Scott.
Scott says his step-father helped to start the business 66 years ago.
He and his cousin took it over more than two decades ago.
Scott says the fire caused up to a million dollars in damage.
But after seeing what Irene did, Scott says he's thankful he has protection.
"Seeing the devastation we've had in other parts of the state and people that didn't have the resources or insurance to rebuild. I'm thankful that we do," said Scott.
Fire officials say they haven't been able to determine was caused the fire.
As for arson...
"They've ruled that out. They know that I didn't have any enemies that would want to anything like that to me," said Scott.
Scott says they plan to rebuild.
But this destruction isn't going to put his 35 employees out of work.
"We'll be open Monday morning," said Scott.
No matter what it takes.

Police say there is a fire at DuBois Construction on Three Mile Bridge Road. It is co-owned by Vermont Lieutenant Governor Phil Scott.
UPDATE 10:00pm According to Vermont State Police; troopers are rerouting traffic away from the scene on Route 2 near Center Road, due to the fire hazards and because it's so close to the roadway. Drivers are urged to use other routes. Also, you're asked NOT to stop on I-89 to watch/see the fire.
