So I found out Wednesday morning that there actually ARE perks to getting up at the nice, fresh, early time of 2:15 a.m.
It's seeing a sight such as this:
This is actually a "screen grab" from video I shot at about 6:20 a.m. Wednesday. There's NO WAY my point-and-shoot digital camera could take a nice picture of the moon, so I zoomed in the camera we use at the station all the way, then took a snapshot of the video.
Now I will admit that even if I was on a regular shift, I would have seen just the opposite. This picture above was taken while the moon was setting. As the moon was rising Tuesday night, here's what it looked like:
Thank you, Betsy for submitting this on our Fox 44 Local News Facebook page. Easy ways to get pictures over to us are either submitting them on facebook, or by e-mail weather@fox44now.com
However I do give the advantage to the morning 'moonset' because the sun was just about to rise at the same time! I love when this happens because you get two great views at once.
I do tip my cap to what I believe is the best picture taken Wednesday morning:

This was on Twitter from account (VTValleyVoice). That is just beautiful as you look to the west over the Green Mountains and the moon setting. I love how big it is in the sky.
I did take time lapse video of the moon setting. I just set the camera up for about a half hour outside the studio and set it to take a picture every 10 seconds. Here is a link to see the time lapse!
