Montpelier, Vermont- Vermont Gov. Peter Shumlin will sign legislation Thursday morning that will allow motorists to cover their front license plates with a special plate that says "Vermont Strong."
The plates will be sold for $25, with most of the proceeds going to Irene disaster relief. The commemorative plates are to be placed over the existing front license plate, and the legislation says the rear plate must remain clearly visible.
Shumlin will buy the first plate and present it to a family whose home was damaged by Irene, according to his spokesperson Sue Allen.
