Burlington, Vermont - More than 300 women opened their hearts, in search of a heart healthy lifestyle.
It was Burlington's 6th Annual Go Red For Women Luncheon. On Thursday, the Sheraton was full of women, and some men, decked out in red.
FOX 44/ABC 22's Lauren Maloney co-emceed the event for the fourth year in a row.
The guests heard moving stories from local survivors, all to raise awareness about the number one killer of women in America...heart disease.
"And it's important for women to understand that, for example, when they're young they have estrogen and it's protective. As they age and go through menopause their profile changes and they become more at risk," Dr. Mary Cushman said.
Next up for the American Heart Association, people will lace up their sneakers and walk for a good cause in June.
